About Us We are an Independent Baptist Church located at 301 Clark Street in Belmont West Virginia. We are not affiliated or connected with any denominational body or The World Council of Churches and subject only to Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church. We believe in obedience to the Biblical commands to seperate ourselves unto God from worldliness and from the apostasy in the church (II Corinthians 6:14-7:1; I Thessalonians 1:9; I Timothy 6:3-5; Romans 16:7; II John 9-11). We do cooperate and fellowship with other Biblical groups or churches of like faith, doctrine, and practice on a voluntary basis. Baptist Distinctives: What makes us Baptist? B- Biblical Authority - The Bible is the only rules of faith and practice. (II Timothy 3:16) A- Autonomy (Self-Governing)of the Local Church - Christ is the head and absolute authority of the local church and should control everything within it. (Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 18:15-17) P- Priesthood of All Believers - All believers have prestly privileges and responsibilities. (Hebrews 9-11; I John 5:14; I Peter 2:5) T- Two Ordinances - Only two, Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. They are typical and memorial, not saving. (I Corinthians 11:24; Acts 2:41) I- Individual Soul Liberty - Each person has the right to interpret the Scriptures, to hold, to confess, and to worship as he believes the Bible teaches. S- Saved - Emersed church membership (Acts 2:41) T- Two Offices - Bishops or pastors, and deacons; they are servants of the local church. (Philippians 1:1; Galatians 6:10) S- Seperation of Church and State - (Matthew 22:15-22; Proverbs 29:25; John 18:28-40) Christian Fundamentals of Our Faith 1) The inerrancy, infallibility and literal truth of the Bible in every detail. 2) The virgin birth and complete deity of Jesus Christ. 3) The physical resurrection of Christ and all dead. 4) The blood atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world (therefore, we are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone). 5) The Second Coming of Christ in bodily form.
